Pinkalicious

Children’s Theatre of Virginia; and Virginia Repertory Theatre
Richmond, VA
Set Design by Terrie Powers
Props Direction by Josh Blum

The concept for this design was to have everything onstage scaled up to 150%. I made many oversized things including a tray of pink cupcakes, doctor’s tools, pencils, a telephone on the wall and a series of food.

Brussel Sprouts
There is a musical number which lists a number of green foods to eat to combat the fact that the kid turned pink, including brussel sprouts in guacamole. These are made of foam and plastic wrap painted green.

Avocado
There is a musical number which lists a number of green foods to eat to combat the fact that the kid turned pink, including an avocado. It is carved out of bead foam and coated so that it will fit together evenly.

Binoculars
Each half was carved out of bead foam and then tied together with a center foam piece, glue, and tape. It was then coated in sculpt and coat and painted.
